Data. Two charts in the handbook were drawn from open data. Star positions come from the Hipparcos catalogue as compiled in XHIP (Anderson & Francis, 2012, via VizieR), using the d3-celestial package (BSD-3-Clause license, github.com/ofrohn/d3-celestial). State outlines come from U.S. Census Bureau cartographic boundary files (2017 edition) as redistributed in the us-atlas package (ISC license, github.com/topojson/us-atlas).
